See message from HMRCSubject: Barclays Planned Maintenance (CDS Impact) – Saturday/Sunday 11th & 12th May 2024 Dear members, Barclays will be carrying out planned maintenance on their File Gateway environment on Saturday 11th May 2024, 6pm to 12 noon Sunday 12th May 2024, this may have an impact on processing durations for some declarations. If you use Barclays please be aware: • For payments in CDS Cash Account or Duty Deferment Account, Faster Payments is the only bank payment scheme which would normally process on Saturdays and Sundays, so there is no alternative during the outage. The recommendation would be to pay into the account in advance of the outage to ensure sufficient balance was already present. • For Immediate Payment the alternative during the outage would be via the Online Payment Service using Corporate Credit Card or Debit Card. This doesn’t require any change to the declarations, you can choose to make the payment via any supported route, no matter which of the specific Immediate Payment MOP codes you use. In either scenario, no declarations will be rejected, but they will be held pending release or clearance if the required funds are delayed by the use of Faster Payments during the Barclays outage. |

See message from CCS-UKEmergency CCS-UK System update @ 3pm UK time 2nd April 2024Further to issues experienced with HMRC’s dual running of CDS and CHIEF systems, there have been issues experienced by the CCS-UK Cargo community since the UK clock change and is having a substantial impact on cargo export. This has now been diagnosed and a change to the operation of CCS-UK is being implemented urgently to address the major impact being experienced in Freight delays across the UK. NB: EAL (Export Arrival) messages submitted into CCS-UK by Trader and Airline systems will now need to send messages using UK time (not Zulu time as previously advised). This change will take place at 3pm today (2nd April) CCS-UK apologises for the disruption and short notice for this change, but it is as a result of combination of the CDS/CDA Exports transition combined with the UK Clock change to BST.. There are currently problems with the EU Gateway outside HMRC control, which is impacting New Computer Transit System (NCTS). For those intending to use transit to move goods and have not yet departed, we recommend that they do not travel to an Inland Border Facility (IBF) or to start a transit movement until the system is working again. There is more information about the Business Continuity Process in the Transit Manual Supplement (TMS). Visit transit-manual-supplement HMRC will continue to urgently seek updates and a resolution. Users must be running Sequoia version 5.51 or higher. The outage is required to install new CCS-UK software functionality in preparation for HMRC’s planned transition of Exports from CHIEF to CDS. This is a preparation phase for Export movement and consolidation messaging only. There is no change to the submission of Export Customs Declarations at this stage. If your business runs ITSFs or DEPs then please ensure that your software system is ready for the change post 1:30pm on the 30th. If your software system connected to CCS-UK uses EDIFACT messaging, then from this point, Exports clearance status (ROE, SOE and ICS) codes returned will all be CDS values, not CHIEF values. ** Please do not send any messages during this downtime as they may be deleted and would need resubmitting. To reiterate, there is no change required at this stage for the CHIEF submission of Export Customs Declarations. There are further phases for the CDS migration and we will provide further comms and notifications in due course. January at 12pm – 1pm. This outage will impact ALL CCS-UK services during
this time. The outage is required to install new CCS-UK software
functionality in preparation for HMRC’s planned transition of Exports from
CHIEF to CDS. This a preparation phase for Export movement and
consolidation messaging only. There is no change to the
submission of Export Customs Declarations at this stage. If your business runs ITSFs or DEPs then please ensure that
your software system is ready for the change post 1pm on the 23rd.
If your software system connected to CCS-UK uses EDIFACT messaging, then
from this point, route, status and import clearance status (ROE, SOE and ICS)
codes returned will all be CDS values, not CHIEF values. To reiterate, there is no change required at this stage for
the CHIEF submission of Export Customs Declarations. There are further phases for the CDS migration and we will

We are aware that not all goods movements on route to border locations
have been able to create a valid Goods Movement Reference. Users should keep trying to access the system.The following process can be followed: Vehicles or trailers may travel without a Goods Movement Reference (GMR) during this period, however you must provide alternative documentation. For example, one of the following (non exhaustive): · Transit Accompanying Document (TAD) (If unable to create a TAD, then photocopies or digital copies of copy 4 of the SAD should be carried) · Movement Reference Number (MRN) · Entry Reference Number (ERN) · Declaration Unique Consignment Reference (DUCR) · Hauliers with empty vehicles can provide their GB EORI number Postal Operators moving goods between GB and the EU will not be able to provide MRNs so alternative documentation can be accepted. If you use Barclays please be aware: • For payments in CDS Cash Account or Duty Deferment Account, Faster Payments is the only bank payment scheme which would normally process on Saturday’s and Sunday’s, so there is no alternative during the outage. The recommendation would be to pay into the account in advance of the outage to ensure sufficient balance was already present. • For Immediate Payment the alternative during the outage would be via the Online Payment Service using Corporate Credit Card or Debit Card. This doesn’t require any change to the declarations, you can choose to make the payment via any supported route, no matter which of the specific Immediate Payment MOP codes you use. In either scenario, no declarations will be rejected, but they will be held pending release or clearance if the required funds are delayed by the use of Faster Payments during the Barclays outage. Dear Customer CNS Core Infrastructure Upgrade CNS will be performing updates to our core infrastructure starting at 22:00 BST Sunday 18th June 2023 and completing by 04:00 BST Monday 19th June 2023. This is a 6-hour window with an expectation for 4 hours of CNS work. No outage is expected. However as with any change there is a risk, classified as LOW, that a problem with the upgrade could be encountered which would require rolling back the updates. In the unlikely event that we need to undertake a rollback of the updates, CNS will require a two hour outage to all services within the 6 hour window already defined above. Should we need to invoke the outage procedure beyond the advised window, additional contingency communications will be provided at that time. These updates are part of a series of work performed over 6 separate occasions with the remaining schedule to be advised in due course. This is the first of 6. It is important at this stage to note that with each upgrade the risk will decrease for each deployment. The updates have been tested in our lower environments and we expect no disruption to Services as we update our Production environment.
